Small Greece; Big Economic Impact.

The population of Greece is slightly less than that of the state of Ohio in USA but its economic impact is almost like that of China.
Greece is facing the largest sovereign
debt crisis of our era, and its resolution will play a large role in shaping the future of the European Union. Plutarchos Sakellaris, Professor at Athens University of Economics and Business and Director of the Laboratory of Economic Policy (EMOP), will present an in-depth view of how the Greek economy can return to growth.
The talk will review the evolution on living standards since 1960 in contrast to the US, and then analyse the most recent boom-bust cycle (1994 2014) and the resulting developments: expansion in private and public debt, sudden stop and devaluation. He will then move on to growth projections and argue for the necessary economic policies in Greece to achieve growth.
